Lightspeed Wedding Entertainments
Now Taking Bookings For 2010 Onwards.
Well, - You've made sure everything's organised; the cars are booked, the dress fits perfectly, the bridesmaids have promised to behave and the cake, which cost a fortune, is still intact and waiting for the big day.
Nothing must be left to chance - nothing can be allowed to go wrong. You've covered everything haven't you? Gone through every little detail ten times over. You've even booked the disco for the night do.
But... have you booked a disco which will compliment the perfect day it's going to be?
Or is a spotty little chap with his home stereo, iPod and a couple of ropelights going to turn up half an hour late and play hard dance music all night? It does happen - sadly, more often than you'd think.
Remember - the disco is the last memory people are going to have of your wedding day. People want to remember having a good time, dancing to their favourite tunes and remembering and photographing the bride & groom's romantic first dance.
A wedding party is unique in that it's made up of the widest possible range of age groups and tastes and the disco must be able to cater for this. We have been providing disco entertainment for wedding receptions for over twenty years and have become experts in this field.
We have DJ's who specialise in weddings. All our DJ's are superb in their own right, but weddings are a specialist subject. Expect a range of music from Aqua to Frank Sinatra, from Steps to The Rolling Stones to be available. We even offer a wide range of classical background music for the quieter moments, or of course, the music of your choice.
We can also supply or recommend other aspects of wedding requirements, such as marquees, bar supplies, power requirements and security should it be needed.
Our lighting systems can be tailored to your requirements as well - we offer a vast range of lighting to suit most tastes. For example, we often use low-level colourwashes on the dancefloor to create a wondeful 'ambient' feel to the dance area when coupled with a light haze - this is often requested by people who have previously attended functions at which this has been used.
Almost anything is possible - from a minimum of subtle reflected lighting to a full 'club standard' light rig. We also now offer superb new L.E.D. lighting, which enables us to colour wash the dancefloor or venue with the colour of your choice, possibly to match the scheme you have chosen for the table settings. This lighting is computer controlled and is capable of reproducing up to 16 million colours! It also reinvents itself when the disco starts properly, by accurately following the music with a dazzling array of colours and colour mixes. If you have any special requests regarding lighting, please contact us.
Don't treat the booking of your wedding disco as an afterthought. The disco is as important as everything else on your list - your day must be perfect in every way - let Lightspeed Entertainments help it to be that way.
ANY QUESTIONS? ~ OF COURSE YOU HAVE!
We understand that your wedding day is one of the most stressful things you can ever plan. We also understand you'll have questions about all aspects of it, including the disco. Here, to help you, are a few examples of questions we are often asked and the answers to go with them.
**********
Q: We want the DJ to play a list of songs for us - can you do this?
A: We do accept playlists, but we find very long or set playlists do not allow the DJ to 'read' the assembled guests as only a time served DJ can. This also, almost without exception, leads to an empty dancefloor. Obviously, if you have certain special songs which you really want playing, we will do this with pleasure for you. Likewise, if there are certain tracks which must be avoided at all costs, we can accomodate this - please let us know beforehand though! Please do, however, take into consideration the fact that there will probably be all age groups of guests at your reception and musical tastes vary enormously, do allow for this before insisting no 'party' music or similar is to be played!

Q: Do you use those old-fashioned box and rope lights?
A: Absolutely not! These are from the 70's and we strongly believe they belong there! The lighting we use is high quality, modern lighting and is often digital and computer controlled for the ultimate lightshow. We can also provide colourwashes and other subtle lighting effects to enhance the appearance of your chosen venue.

Q: We don't want the music to be too loud - can you guarantee this?
A: All the sound systems we use provide hi-fi quality sound at all levels. We use powerful sound systems run at levels much lower than they are capable of, ensuring unbeatable quality at all events. Many 'mobile disco's' use smaller systems running at near full capacity. This leads to a 'tiring' sound, which leaves you with ringing ears and a headache. We have invested many, many thousands of pounds over the years to ensure this does not happen and our systems are tailored for YOUR event, taking into consideration factors such as venue size, the number of people attending and specified price. If, however, you require an immense sound system, we can provide this for you - otherwise, be assured you will not be deafened and neither will your guests!

Q: The venue we have booked insists on the disco having PLI - what is this and do you have it?
A: Yes - PLI stands for Public Liability Insurance and this is one of the points to look for when booking a disco. Generally, 'cowboy' disco operators do not carry this as it can be expensive. PLI is insurance which protects you and your guests should anyone hurt themselves because of negligence on our part (Not that this ever happens!). In addition, all our equipment is regularly safety tested using PAT equipment and certificates are available on request. Again, you will generally find only the professional operators go to these lengths to ensure their equipment is safe.

Q: We would like classical background music to be played during the meal - is this possible?
A: Definitely - we have a wide choice of classical music, or, for that matter, any other background music you may have in mind - simply request this when you book.

Q: Some of our guests cannot tolerate strobe lighting - do you use it?
A: Generally, no. Do bear in mind though, that photo-sensisitive epilepsy can be triggered by other lighting apart from strobes. Although it is almost impossible to do a successful disco without lighting, we can liase with you before the event so the lighting can be arranged in such a way to minimise any such risks.

Q: We would like public address facilities to be available for the speeches - can you provide this?
A: Yes - please request this when booking.

Q: Do you use smoke machines? Some of our guests are asthmatic.
A: We sometimes do - but only a bare minimum in order to pick out the light beams, as this is mainly what provides the effect with certain types of lighting. The fluid used in our machines conforms to the relevant health and safety legislation (COSHH leaflets available on request) and is water based. This ensures it has no effect on those suffering from asthma in the quantities used. Nowadays, we generally use modern 'haze generators' such as that seen on television's 'The Weakest Link' for example. This haze is so light, you don't normally even know it's there until the light beams react with it. Some venues do, however, prohibit the use of smoke or haze machines as their alarm systems cannot be reprogrammed to cope. This can limit the effectiveness of certain lighting effects, such as lasers. If this is the case, please let us know so we can supply suitable lighting.

Q: Do you set up your equipment before the guests arrive?
A: Always. All our disco's are set up and sound/light checked well before any guests arrive at the venue. If you require background music or microphone facilites before the disco, possibly during the afternoon reception, we can set earlier than normal for a nominal extra charge.

Q: My friend got married last year and the DJ turned up wearing jeans and trainers. What dress code do you use?
A: Whatever is suitable. If your function is a 'black tie' event, our DJ will dress in keeping with your other guests. If you would prefer him or her to dress more casually, again, this is not a problem - our DJ's can dress for any occasion!

Q: We've decided to hold our wedding reception in a marquee. Does this present you with any problems?
A: None at all. In fact, we specialise in marquee weddings and can therefore not only guarantee the disco will be a huge success, but we can also help with many other aspects of marquee weddings. Give us a call!

Q: We've been looking at the prices for a disco for our wedding reception and have decided to try and save some money by doing it ourselves. We have an iPod and just need to hire some big speakers and an amplifier. Why doesn't everyone do this and save money?
A: Because, by the time you've hired a PA system, the difference in cost won't be that much (if anything at all) and you don't have the advantage of a trained professional who can read a dancefloor and play appropriate music for your party. An iPod can't take requests and make the music 'flow' as it should. We HAVE seen iPod and laptop weddings before. Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXj4P3iz2yg is a good example of why, in our opinion, an iPod wedding is NOT such a good idea!

Weddings are expensive - and the credit crunch isn't making things any easier! Not only do we accept all major credit & debit cards, but we now also offer an instalment package at no extra cost. With your agreement, your card is debited on a certain date each month until your wedding disco is paid for in full. No need to make do with a poor quality disco for your wedding!

'To everyone at Lightspeed Entertainments. I really must thank you enormously for the effort you put into making our reception something to remember. I didn't think my Dad would ever get up and dance in public, but you managed to make him! I think he'll probably sleep for a week now! Your music was superb and you played a lot of tunes I haven't heard in ages. Loads of people asked me who did the disco as it was so good. I hope you gave plenty of cards out. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You really made our night! PS - what was that last tune you played?'

(In case anyone's interested, the last tune was 'Drops Of Jupiter' by Train!)
